Some card games use set rotation to put older cards out of play. Most card games will have a ban list of some sort.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is a card game that features dueling monsters. Duelists use cards to battle each other, and the winner is the first to lose all their cards.

A broken card may occasionally be errata’d. This is where the actual card text is changed, such that the card’s effect can be used again!

  1. The Dark Side of the Moon
  2. The Graveyard of Shadows
  3. The Millennium Puzzle
  4. The Sacred Cards of Yu-Gi-Oh!

10. Firewall Dragon

In the original Yu-Gi-Oh VRAINS game, Firewall Dragon was the boss monster of Yusaku.

Despite Firewall Dragon barely getting a mention in the anime, its powerful effect made it one of the most popular cards in the game.

If a monster is sent to the graveyard by a card effect, you can Special Summon any monster from your hand. ..

Link Summoning is a powerful card that quickly became a combo piece in any link-summon deck.

With the new errata, you can now only special summon Cyberse monsters using this effect.

Cyberse decks are great for Firewall Dragon because it can block a lot of cards, and it’s pretty easy to get the dragon out of the way. Other decks might not be as interested in this card, as it doesn’t do much for them.

I think this hit was fair, and I’m just glad to see Firewall Dragon back in the game.

9. Catapult Turtle

This card is a reprint of an old card that was popular in the Yu-Gi-Oh! series. It is a powerful monster that can easily take down your opponent’s monsters.

The Magical Scientist used Catapult Turtle to perform an OTK that resulted in victory for their team.

You can use Magical Scientist to special summon a whole bunch of fusion monsters from your extra deck, and then tribute them off with Catapult Turtle for a whole bunch of damage. ..

Since then, Catapult Turtle has been changed. You can only tribute one monster per turn, meaning you can’t use this effect to destroy your opponent in one go.

This guy’s partner in crime, Magical Scientist, has been banned from the magical community for a long time.

The Trump administration has announced that it will not allow transgender people to serve in the military. This decision is likely to cause a lot of controversy, as many people believe that this change would be beneficial for the military and society as a whole. I doubt he’ll come off of the ban list anytime soon.

8. Dark Magician of Chaos

This new player is shaking up the Yu-Gi-Oh scene, and he’s not afraid to show it. He’s a force to be reckoned with, and his skills are sure to take the game by storm. ..

When this card is Normal or Special Summoned, you can add one spell from your Graveyard to your Hand. ..

This meant if you used a card like Monster Reborn to summon this guy, you could just bring back that Monster Reborn right away – and summon another monster off of it!

This deal is a steal - get two monsters for the price of one! That’s enough to easily finish your opponent in a flash. ..

The ability to instantly recycle spell cards was just too powerful for the game to handle, and as a result, the card text had to be changed such that you got the spell card during the end phase. ..

7. Sangan

A GOAT format deck is a deck that is very strong and can win games quickly. This guy is a big part of this style of play.

Sangan was so good that it was actually limited to one copy per deck for quite some time.

With Sangan’s original effect, you could add any monster with 1500 or less attack from your deck to your hand (when Sangan is sent to the graveyard).

The strategy with this card was to use it in conjunction with other cards that can destroy your own monsters, then search for those combo pieces whenever you need them. ..

A mistake was made on this card and it is now unable to be used.

After searching, you can’t activate monster effects or summon monsters with the same name as the card you searched. This means that it’s practically useless until your next go.

Sangan was once an amazing searcher, able to find anything in seconds. However, this nerf turned him into a slow and clunky monster with a mediocre effect.

Since then, the game has seen very little competitive play.

6. Destiny Hero – Disk Commander

Destiny Heros were cooler than the Elemental Heroes.

Dark art is often more visually appealing and engaging than traditional art, and its effects can be more menacing and exciting to play with. ..

Destiny’s newest hero, Disk Commander, is easily the best released to date. With powerful abilities and a versatile weapon set, Disk Commander is a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. ..

Now, this card lets you draw 2 cards every time it is special summoned from the graveyard.

A lot of different decks were able to abuse this effect, drawing a lot of cards in a single turn.

Effective immediately, you can no longer Special Summon this card from the Graveyard the same turn it was sent there. In addition, you can only use its effect once per Duel. ..

This card is one of the most powerful cards in Yu-Gi-Oh, but it can be very difficult to use it effectively. However, after some adjustments, we were able to make this card even more powerful.

5. Sinister Serpent

But now, with the help of a new ally, it seems possible to break through.

If this card is in your graveyard during your standby phase, you can add it back to your hand.

Your opponent would have to work twice as hard every turn to even lay a finger on you if you had a monster to defend yourself.

This card is a powerful defense against attacks.

The card text on the Dark Magician Girl card was altered so that you could use this effect once before it banished itself from the graveyard. ..

4. Temple of the Kings

The first reason was because the temple was built on the ruins of a previous temple. The second reason was because the city of Jerusalem needed money to build new temples.

Secondly, if they had a trap card up, you could activate it as soon as possible!

With legal traps like Imperial Order and Call of the Haunted, some people were able to create seriously mean combos.

The extra deck was broken because you could summon any monster you like from it.

The card was printed when there were only fusion monsters to choose from.

Since then, Yu-Gi-Oh! has had a variety of synchro monsters, XYZ monsters, pendulum monsters, and link monsters that would have been viable targets for this effect.

This would have led to more OTK’s than I could ever imagine. And as such, this card was altered to only summon Fusion monsters that are specific to the player’s deck.

3. Chaos Emperor Dragon – Envoy of the End

Chaos Emperor Dragon was so broken, it was the first card to ever be banned in Yu-Gi-Oh’s history! ..

This card is incredibly easy to summon and its effect is simply game winning.

Your opponent takes 300 damage for every card destroyed, and the game ends if there are no cards in your graveyard.

Your opponent’s life points were critically low, assuming that didn’t kill them! ..

You could easily create a powerful monster that can take down even the most experienced players. All you need is some good attack stats and the game will be as good as yours.

Since Chaos Emperor Dragon has been errata’d, you can no longer activate any effects on the same turn as this card, and your opponent only takes damage for each of their cards that get destroyed. ..

This effectively halves the damage that they would take, and means you can’t use your other effects to finish your opponent in a single turn.

2. Crush Card Virus

The Crush Card Virus was a trap card that was easily one of the best cards ever printed in Yu-Gi-Oh. It allowed players to easily win games by trapping their opponents with cards like “Trap Hole” and “Dimensional Prison.”

However, starting from issue #5, this card has been reprinted as a regular card in the game. It’s a great way to show your support for your favorite manga and anime characters, and can be used as a giveaway or promotional item.

This card allows you to destroy all monsters with 1500 or more attack in your opponent’s hand, field, or in their next 3 draws.

I was exhausted after the fight.

If you get a Crush Card Virus, your game is most likely over. ..

This card was then altered beyond belief.

With the updated text, your opponent can no longer check your next three draws, and they take no damage until the end of the turn. Additionally, they get to choose 3 monsters from their deck to be destroyed at the end of the turn. ..

The new rule lets players load their graveyard up to three times, potentially setting themselves up perfectly for the next turn. ..

The Crush Card Virus is a game that is practically unplayable.

Which is sad because this card dominated the meta game in its day.

1. Future Fusion

Foolish Burial is a powerful card that can only be played with one copy of each card in your deck. This makes it difficult to cast, but its ability to send a single card from your deck to your graveyard is worth the risk.

What if I told you that the original Future Fusion let players send up to five monsters at once? ..

The new Future Fusion lets you send monsters from your deck to the graveyard, in order to fusion summon a monster in two turns.

The main problem with this card is that it allows players to summon powerful monsters like Five Headed Dragon too easily, stacking their graveyard with a whole bunch of powerful monsters all at once. ..

Starting from the next standby phase, you have to send cards from your hand to the graveyard in order to activate Future Fusion. ..

Graveyard decks are becoming more powerful, but you can’t use them right away, giving your opponent a turn to prepare for the worst. ..

This nerf was definitely needed to keep the game balanced, but it’s definitely the hardest hitting errata in all of Yu-Gi-Oh’s history.

Future Fusion was designed to be an obscure fusion spell that no-one uses.
