I completed the Extreme Trial for the first time this week, and I was able to trade in a Rathalos Scale+ for a Smithy key. This key can be found in The Great Hunt (Extreme).

In Patch 4.36 of the Stormblood Expansion, a collaboration between the popular Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy franchises was introduced as a trial. ..

The Rathalos is an infamous creature that many people have heard of. It is a large, green, dragon-like creature that can be found in the world of video games. You will need to use your skills and strength to take on this creature.

In Monster Hunter World, you can combat the Behemoth and acquire iconic Dragoon glamour in return.

The fight against the Rathalos is unique in that the mechanics are not anything like what is normally seen in XIV. The Rathalos has visual tells, and healing is disabled and replaced by the Mega Potion Duty Action. ..

Failure to complete the Duty will result in your party being eliminated from the game. ..

The bad news is that you can’t unsync the fight.

The Great Hunt is a new quest that’s available now. It’s a great opportunity to join in on the fun and get some unique rewards. There are several different quests available, each with its own set of rewards.

Unlocking The Great Hunt

In order to unlock the “The Great Hunt” (and subsequent Extreme version), you’ll need to complete the Level 70 Main Scenario Quest “Stormblood.”

Quest: The New King on the Block The Hearty Hunter is the NPC you’ll need to talk to if you want to start The New King on the Block. After a quick chat, you’re off to the Azim Steppe.

After gathering some information from the Au’ra in Reunion and a terrified Qestiri Merchant, you’ll begin your stakeout.

After observing the monstrous wyvern feeding on some local livestock, talk with the Felyne. They’ll enlist you to tackle the beast alongside them inside Bardam’s Mettle, where the creature has made its nest.

The trial is a simple affair, and can be completed quickly by entering through the Duty or Party Finder options. ..

The normal version isn’t too tough, but it can be a little bit tough if you want it to be.

After completing the Quest, you’ll be rewarded with the Palico Minion, some BBQ Housing items, and the “New King on the Block” Achievement. ..

The Hearty Hunter is excited to find new prey. ..

First, you’ll need to find the Extreme Trial. This is a key part of the game that allows you to progress through the game and unlock new content. Second, be sure to have a good amount of money saved up so you can buy the necessary items.

Trial Tips + Strategy

The fight against Rathalos is unique in the world of XIV. Rathalos doesn’t use traditional AOE indicators, you can’t heal without using a Duty Action, and you can only die three times. ..

If you’re going to be traveling, it’s important to have a heads up on what to watch for in different parts of the world.

Phase 1: The Pre-Study Phase This is the phase where scientists are trying to see if the drug works and if there are any side effects. They will also be looking for any potential problems with the drug. Phase 2: The Study Phase This is where people are taking the drug and seeing how it affects them. They will also be looking for any possible side effects.

Phase 1: Ground

-Rathalos will whip its right side, then cleave its front and rear. You can dodge this by being on its sides. -The Boss will also do a tail swipe to the right, indicated by the Boss’s tail being in the air. -Rathalos will then charge towards a random player, pause, and do a Fireball. You can’t avoid the damage or the Burn this inflicts, so try to spread out and avoid hitting others. -Rathalos will also do an Evasive Breath where it turns towards a random player with its head down. You can dodge this by getting behind it or well outside of melee range ..

Phase 2: Adds

The Rathalos attacks from Phase 1 will continue, but you’ll need to deal with some random Adds.

The Sheep are the most common enemy in the game, and they inflict a debuff called “Sleep.” The primary goal is to defeat the Garula that appears. ..

If you fail to kill the Garula quickly enough, the Rathalos will kill everyone in its path. You’ll need to position your Party behind its carcass to avoid the Rathalos’s Fire Breath. The attack will instantly kill anyone outside of cover.

If you’re playing Monster Hunter World, one of your party members will need to perform an Active Time Event in order to take down the Garula. When it charges at them, mount Rathalos and press the buttons as quickly as possible. If you fail, your entire party will be wiped out. ..

Phase 3: Flying

Rathalos will periodically turn to face a random party member, then swoop towards them with its claws extended. If hit, the player will get a “Poison” DoT and take quite a bit of damage. Try to stay behind Rathalos at all times or at least get out of its way. Mangle is an AOE attack that takes the shape of a cone in front of Rathalos. It inflicts high damage, and can only be avoided by staying behind the boss or on its sides. Sweeping Flames is another frontal cone AOE, but this one inflicts a massive “Burn” DoT. Again avoided by staying on Rathalos’s rear or flanks. Fireball is a random party member that will be targeted with an orange marker. After a brief delay, they’ll be hit for unavoidable damage and inflicted with a “Burn” DoT. This attack will also leave a persistent lava puddle wherever the player was standing. Try to bait these along the edges of the arena to give yourself time to evade Rathalos’s many other attacks ..

Rathalos will fall to the ground if it takes too much damage in this Phase.

This inflicts a vulnerability up debuff and this is when you should try to do as much burst damage as possible.

If you’re looking to take down tough enemies quickly, Limit Break could be a great option. ..

After you’ve defeated the Beast, it’s important to claim your trophies. You can carve its head and tail off in two places. ..

Rathalos scales are a valuable item that can be used to improve your stats. With each victory, you’ll receive one Rathalos Scale+.

Your Poogie Minion will run you 5 of those scales, unless it drops in the Coffer at the end.

You can also stock up on these Scales to exchange them for other prizes, like Orchestrion Rolls or Rathalos Mail Glamour. Why, you can even trade them for your very own Rathalos Mount should you manage to gather 50 of them! ..
